Who your data is shared with
Third parties with whom your data will be shared are:
- IONOS (the website’s host, data storage provider, and analytics provider)
- Wordfence Security (which protects the website from malicious activity)
For Wordfence, visitor IP addresses are processed for security purposes.
I do not participate in the Real-Time Wordfence Security Network and do not use Wordfence’s IP location lookup services.
Wordfence acts as a data processor on my behalf under a Data Processing Addendum (DPA). The DPA includes safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), to ensure that personal data is handled in compliance with GDPR.
For more information about Wordfence’s data handling, you can view their DPA.
The legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest in maintaining the security and integrity of the website.
The following data is collected by IONOS (the hosting provider) from website visitors, which is anonymised as soon as it is collected:
- Referrer (previously visited website)
- Requested website or file
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Type of device used
- Time of access
- IP address in anonymised form (only used to determine the location of access)
This information is collected for legitimate interest in order to ensure the security and stability of the website and to be able to provide website visitors with the highest level of quality. This data is retained for 8 weeks.
The following data is also collected by IONOS SiteAnalytics exclusively for statistical analysis, and technical optimisation of the website.
- Referrer (previously visited website)
- Requested website or file
- Browser type and version
- Operating system used
- Device type used
- Time of access
- IP address in anonymised form (used only to determine the location of access)
Tracking and logging are activated by default. To protect personal data, SiteAnalytics does not use cookies. The data is determined either by a pixel or by a log file. The visitor’s IP address is transmitted when a page request is sent, anonymised directly after transmission, and processed without personal reference. This data is retained for 8 weeks as well.
I do not sell your data.
How long your data is retained for
If you contact me through the form on the website and agree for me to store your submitted information, your information may be retained until you request deletion. This is so I can read your message, and respond to it in a suitable way.
IONOS retains data on their servers for 8 weeks.
Visitor IP addresses are retained locally on my server for security monitoring purposes and are automatically deleted after 7 days.
Your cookie preferences will be stored for 365 days.
What rights you have over your data
If you have submitted information, you may request:
- An exported copy of the personal data I hold about you
- That I erase any personal data I hold about you
This does not include data I am obliged to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your data has been processed unlawfully.
Where your data is sent
Visitor IP addresses collected by Wordfence are stored locally on my server and are not routinely transmitted to Wordfence’s servers.
If features requiring data transmission are enabled, limited security-related data may be transferred to Wordfence servers in the United States. In such cases, Wordfence acts as a data processor on my behalf under a Data Processing Addendum (DPA), which includes appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure compliance with GDPR.
IONOS stores data on their servers. IP addresses are anonymised immediately after collection and processed without direct personal reference. If you contact me, any personal data included in your message may be retained on IONOS-hosted servers until you request deletion. IONOS operates data centres in the EU, the UK, as well as in the US. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EU, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are in place under their Data Processing Addendum.
